Islington hosts annual festive feast for older local residents

Older residents living in Islington are invited to apply for a free Christmas feast on Wednesday 12 December 2018.

The annual lunch hosted by Islington Council brings older people in the borough together for a special afternoon of food, drinks, festive music and entertainment. The Mayor and councillors will be on hand to help serve a delicious meal.

There are up to 100 places available for Islington residents who are aged 70 and over. This year, like last the council is opening the doors of Islington Assembly Hall on Upper Street for a festive gathering that is entirely free.

Deputy Leader of Islington Council, Cllr Janet Burgess said: “This time of year is a perfect opportunity to bring older residents in our community together, say thank you for all they contribute and welcome in the festive season.

As ever, I am so excited to welcome local residents to the Town Hall and look forward to an afternoon of lots of food, fun and joy.”

Islington has been hosting the festive feasts since 2010, when the council scrapped its own corporate Christmas event to cater instead for the borough’s older people.
