Councillor Una O'Halloran, Leader of Islington Council-2

A new Executive to Make it Happen for Islington

A new-look Executive is set to Make it Happen for Islington by delivering on the priorities that matter most to local people.

Following last week’s local elections, Cllr Una O’Halloran, Leader of the Council, has announced her intention to appoint a new Executive, who will work together to create a more equal Islington for all. This includes:

  • Council Leader – Cllr Una O’Halloran
  • Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Health and Social Care – Cllr Ruth Hayes
  • Executive Member for Finance – Cllr Paul Convery
  • Executive Member for Homes and Neighbourhoods – Cllr Jason Jackson
  • Executive Member for Climate, Environment, and Transport – Cllr Rowena Champion
  • Executive Member for Community Safety and Neighbourhoods – Cllr Heather Staff
  • Executive Member for Inclusive Economy and Planning – Cllr James Potts
  • Executive Member for Children, Young People, and Families – Cllr Sheila Chapman
  • Executive Member for Communities and Partnerships – Cllr Saiqa Pandor

Cllr O’Halloran said: “The job for me and my Executive over the next four years is clear – to Make it Happen for Islington.

“We'll be working to create a more equal Islington, because a more equal borough is a better place for all of us. To deliver that, we’ll be focussing on the issues that matter most to our residents, like safety, housing, and addressing the cost-of-living crisis.

“At last week’s local elections, local people put their trust in us to deliver, and that’s what we’ll be doing straight away. We’ll be putting up new CCTV cameras in your neighbourhoods to reduce anti-social behaviour, putting spades in the ground to build much-needed genuinely affordable homes, and taking action to reduce bills for those most in need.

“My new-look Executive is filled with talented, committed councillors who are ready to work tirelessly for their community – and over the coming weeks, you’ll hear more about how they’ll be doing that.”
