Autumn Statement 2022 - response from Islington Council
Cllr Diarmaid Ward, Islington Council’s Executive Member for Finance, Planning and Performance, said: “Today’s Government autumn statement puts even more pressure on local people to pay for the cost of living crisis.
“As inflation soars and the council continues to see more and more demand for our services, we face being forced to find further savings, after 12 years of cuts, making it harder than ever to provide vital services Islington needs.
“The Chancellor also today suggests local authorities put up council tax further to pay for the huge national gap in adult social care funding.
“This buck-passing leaves councils facing a very difficult choice between funding vital adult social care, cutting other services, and putting up council tax bills.”
“We will continue doing everything we can to support our residents, especially those who most need help”
