Cllr Burgess statement on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2015

Islington Council’s Executive Member for Health and Well Being, Cllr Janet Burgess, said: “We all have a duty to do everything we can to prevent and respond to the abuse and suffering inflicted on some of our older generations, often in the lonely margins of society. I was moved by this excellent exhibition, which amplifies the voices of those telling us what it’s really like to be an older or disabled person, or someone who’s survived abuse, and puts their stories at the centre of a critical conversation in our community on how we can work together to keep vulnerable adults safe.”
