Dave Hodgkinson appointed as Islington Council’s Corporate Director of Resources

Dave Hodgkinson has been appointed to the role of Corporate Director, Resources at Islington Council and is expected to start his new role in the Spring.

Dave is currently Director of Corporate Finance and Property at Westminster City Council, where he has worked since 2015, including acting as the Deputy S151 officer.   Dave has a strong track record of local government leadership across a range of areas including financial management, property and digital. He has successfully led on a number of significant change programmes in both the public and private sector and will bring a range of knowledge and experience to this key role for Islington Council.

Islington Council’s executive member for finance, performance and community safety, Cllr Andy Hull, said:  “We’re delighted to appoint Dave Hodgkinson as our new Corporate Director of Resources. Making Islington a fairer place is our top priority, and an essential part of that is ensuring we manage our finances and resources in a way that enables us to invest in improving people’s lives.

“Since 2010, there have been deep and sustained cuts to the council’s funding from central government, meaning we have had to make savings of almost £250m.  Our challenge throughout this, and looking forward, is to keep investing in building new genuinely affordable homes, helping residents find good work, and tackling the challenges of crime and climate change. A strong Resources directorate underpins this, and I am looking forward to working with Dave Hodgkinson to implement our budget and meet these challenges for the coming years.”

Dave Hodgkinson said:  “I’m really looking forward to working with my new colleagues at Islington. This is an exceptional opportunity – the council’s members and officers are ambitious, forward thinking and have a set of strong values.

“This job represents an opportunity to develop and improve a large and important enabling directorate to support Islington Council to deliver for its residents and prepare services for the future.   I intend to provide leadership across a portfolio of services to inspire high performance and change.”
