Ironmonger Row Baths fire update - statement from GLL and Islington Council
We would like to thank our leisure centre staff and London Fire Brigade for their very prompt response to the fire at Ironmonger Row Baths on 6th January.
GLL and Islington Council are working closely together to make the facilities available again as soon as possible. We apologise to customers for the disruption caused by the current closure of the baths, and we thank everyone for their kindness and patience while necessary works take place.
All programmes at Ironmonger Row Baths – including Better Swim School and school swimming lessons - have been temporarily reprovided at alternative local venues, and we have upgraded customers to UK-wide memberships so they can use any Better gym or pool in the short term.
In the last week we have carefully assessed damage from the fire, and have started cleaning work. Our priority is to reopen the gym and pool as soon as it is safe to do so. The sauna and spa repairs are more complex and will take longer to complete.
