Islington Council celebrates The Queen's 90th birthday with beacon lighting

Residents are invited to join the Mayor of Islington for a celebration as he lights a Birthday Beacon for the Queen’s 90th birthday next week.

Cllr Richard Greening will unite with hundreds of dignitaries around the country and the Commonwealth in lighting a beacon to mark Her Majesty’s historic birthday at a special evening event in Dartmouth Park.

The event takes place on Thursday, 21 April, and residents are welcome to join the Mayor, other dignitaries and councillors at the park for the symbolic lighting, which will take place at 8.30pm and be mirrored at sites across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth in an age-old tradition.

Further details about the event will be announced early next week.
