Islington's GCSE results exceed national average
National 2014 GCSE results, released by the Department for Education (DfE), show that 59.9 per cent of students achieved the measure in Islington, compared to 56.8 per cent nationally and 59.5 per cent in Inner London.
Cllr Joe Caluori, Islington Council's executive member for children and families, said: "These results show again that Islington's schools are providing a first class education for students.
"Islington is one of only six local authorities in England where all secondary schools are rated 'good' or 'outstanding', and our GCSE results are better than the national and inner London averages.
"I'm very proud of our students, and the high standards and hard work in our schools."
Islington's GCSE results are now 39th best in the country, compared with being ranked 143rd out of 151 local authorities in 2010.
The validated results from the DfE follow provisional figures last October.
