Islington welcomes Emirates Stadium becoming home of Arsenal women’s team

Arsenal has today (Tuesday, 14 May) announced that the Emirates Stadium will host 11 women’s football matches in the 2024/25 season, marking a huge step forward for the women’s game.

The club – which hosted six Barclays Women’s Super League matches at the stadium during the 2023/24 season – will welcome in fans for eight league games and three UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) fixtures, should the club qualify for the group stages of the competition.

In a statement issued today, Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz, Leader of Islington Council, said: “We’re delighted that the Emirates Stadium will become the home of the Arsenal women’s team, and that even more people will be able to see the team.

“Here in Islington, we’re determined to create a more equal future for all and, as part of that, we believe that sport should be open to everyone. That’s why it’s so fantastic to see Arsenal remaining at the forefront of the women’s game and driving its growth.

“We’re now working with the club to understand more about the impact that the extra matches at the Emirates Stadium will have on local people and will keep those living near the stadium updated.”

Details on parking restrictions when Arsenal play home matches at the Emirates Stadium can be found on the council’s website.

Arsenal has said that, should the women’s team qualify for the UWCL group stages, all three home matches during that phase of the competition would be played at the Emirates. If the team progresses beyond the group phase, then any other UWCL home matches would be played at the Emirates.

The team's remaining games, including all women’s domestic cup fixtures (Adobe Women’s FA Cup and FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup), will be played at the long-standing host venue, the Mangata Pay UK Stadium in Meadow Park, Borehamwood.

Arsenal’s full statement is available on their website.
