Linzi Roberts-Egan appointed as Chief Executive of Islington Council

Linzi Roberts-Egan has been confirmed as the next Chief Executive of Islington Council.

Currently Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Families and Housing at Waltham Forest Council, Linzi has worked in the public sector for 28 years, starting with a highly successful career in teaching. In 2008, she left a role as Executive Headteacher leading a mainstream primary school and two Pupil Referral Units in Thurrock, to become the Assistant Director of Education and Inclusion at St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council.  In 2010 she returned to London, joining Newham Council in 2010 as Director of Children’s Services, before taking on her current role at Waltham Forest in 2013.

I am confident she has the experience, tenacity and drive to lead Islington through the coming years and I am really looking forward to working with her to make Islington fairer.”

Linzi Roberts-Egan said: “I feel truly honoured to take on the role of Islington’s Chief Executive. Its vision and values completely align with my own and I am thrilled to be part of its exciting and vibrant future.”

This appointment follows the departure of Lesley Seary, who retired in April after eight years as Islington’s Chief Executive. Maggie Kufeldt will continue as interim Head of Paid Service until Linzi arrives in post.
