Mayor of Islington and council choir add sparkle to Christmas tea party

The heavenly voices of the Islington Council Choir and a surprise visit from the Mayor of Islington added extra sparkle to an annual Christmas tea party in Whittington Park, Holloway, at the weekend.

The Mayor of Islington, Cllr Kat Fletcher, dropped in to chat with users of the Manor Gardens Centre Islington Stroke Service as they tucked into festive finger food in the park’s pavilion.

To finish the event off, the council’s choir then sang a selection of Christmas carols for the group of stroke survivors.

Cllr Fletcher said: “It is always a great privilege for any Mayor to help bring festive cheer to events like this annual tea party, which is rapidly becoming a great tradition in the borough.

“You could see the pleasure in the faces of the Manor Gardens service users as the choir brought the carols to life.

“Events like this show the true spirit of Christmas is alive and well in Islington, and I was proud to be a part of it.”
