Murder investigation following fatal stabbing – Leader’s statement

“Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones, as they come to terms with this devastating loss.

“This is a tragic incident, and one that I know will be deeply upsetting and unsettling for our residents, and everyone connected with the area.

“The police have launched a murder investigation, and we’re working closely with them and other local partners to provide reassurance in the area.

“Anyone who witnessed what happened, or who has information that could help the investigation, is urged to contact the police. Even the smallest detail could prove vital in the police’s investigation, so please do come forward if you can help."

Police were called to Lloyd Baker Street at 11.20pm on Wednesday, 16 September, following reports of a stabbing. The 28-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment, but sadly passed away on Thursday, 17 September.

A Section 60 order has been authorised, which grants officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles. This applies to the Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton areas. The order runs from 4pm on Friday, 18 September, to 6am on Saturday, 19 September.
