Tribute paid to former councillor Gary Doolan

Cllr Richard Watts, leader of Islington Council, said: “We’re extremely sad to hear of the death of Gary Doolan, and our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends and all those who worked with him.

“Gary was a hard-working, well-liked and very effective councillor for St Peter’s Ward in Islington for many years, from 2006 until May this year. Before his time as a councillor, Gary worked for Islington Council and helped represent staff through his involvement with the GMB trade union.

“Gary fought hard for a better world for working people, and will be remembered with affection by a great many people in our borough.”
