Victoria Lawson is appointed new Chief Executive of Islington Council

Islington Council has appointed Victoria Lawson as its new Chief Executive.

Victoria is currently Executive Director of Environment, Culture and Customer Services at the London Borough of Hounslow, where she has held senior leadership positions for the last seven years. She is also Chair of the London Environment Directors Network.

Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz, Leader of Islington Council, said: “I’m delighted that Victoria Lawson will be joining us as the next Chief Executive of Islington Council.

“Victoria has a very strong record of senior local authority leadership, and will bring her experience, passion and commitment to Islington.

“We all greatly look forward to working side-by-side with Victoria, to create a more equal Islington where everyone is able to thrive.”

Victoria said: “Islington is a fantastic borough and I'm excited to work with councillors, partners, the community, and all colleagues in the council to deliver on Islington's missions to create a fairer Islington for everyone who visits, works here, or calls the borough home.

“I am both happy and humbled to be appointed as the new Chief Executive for the London Borough of Islington and will join the Leader and members in driving the delivery of Islington's exciting vision and promises.”

Victoria’s appointment was confirmed at last night’s Islington Council meeting.

Stephen Biggs will continue as Acting Head of Paid Service of Islington Council until the new Chief Executive begins in post.
