Your chance to ask Islington Council about budget and impact of government cuts

Islington residents are invited to a special Question Time-styled session in which they’ll have a chance to quiz the local authority’s leader on the council’s forthcoming budget and the difficult decisions it faces as a result of government funding cuts.  

It is the fourth Leader’s Question Time session since these were first introduced last year, as part of a council’s commitment to listening to local people and encouraging residents to be actively involved in local decisions.

The session is scheduled to take place between 19:00 and 21:00 on Tuesday 1 December 2015 at Central Library on Fieldway Crescent, N5 1PF.

Islington Council leader, Cllr Richard Watts, said: “Islington is facing funding cuts from national government on an unprecedented scale. National government has cut the council's funding in half since 2010.

“That’s half as much to spend on essential services like keeping our streets clean and caring for older people.

“This means much less money and tough choices on what local services we can provide.

“I want to hear directly from local residents about the issues that matter to our community, and look forward to another lively discussion.”

Residents can turn up on the night to ask a question.
