Community football pitches next to Finsbury Leisure Centre are set to be retained under new Islington Council proposals to end plans to build new housing on the site.  

Islington Council is set to buy back another 193 former council homes, as part of its ongoing efforts to tackle the borough’s growing homelessness crisis. With this latest round of acquisitions, Islington Council remains on track to deliver 907 homes by March 2026 – one of the most in England.

Islington Council has delivered 22 new homes on the Andover Estate, providing much-needed, high-quality housing for residents, with 20 more homes expected to be completed by the end of March 2025.
